Are You a Candidate for Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty can be a good option for men and women who want to refresh their eye area without looking overdone. Ideal candidates are:

  • In good overall health and able to safely undergo surgery
  • Non-smokers, or willing to stop prior to surgery
  • Experiencing drooping eyelids, puffiness, or under-eye bags
  • Seeking a natural, rejuvenated look rather than dramatic alteration
  • Sometimes, patients also notice improved vision when excess skin is removed

A Patient-First Approach to Consultations

The goal of every visit is to leave you feeling more knowledgeable, comfortable, and excited about your next step, whether that means scheduling surgery or simply exploring your options.

What to Expect  With Blepharoplasty in Little Rock

Your Consultation & Planning

Your visit begins with a focused exam and photos to assess the skin, muscle, and fat around the eyes. Dr. English reviews your goals, explains options, and recommends upper, lower, or combined blepharoplasty. He may also suggest adjuncts like fat transfer or a chemical peel for smoother skin and fuller contours.

Day of Surgery

Your procedure is performed in our Gold Seal–accredited on-site surgical suite. Most blepharoplasties take about one hour under local anesthesia with IV sedation or general anesthesia. Incisions are placed inside the eyelid or within natural creases, then closed with fine sutures.

Right After Your Procedure

You can return home the same day with a responsible adult. Expect mild discomfort managed with oral medication, plus instructions for cold compresses, keeping your head elevated, and any prescribed ointment. Plan for quiet rest and limited screen time.

Days 1–3

Swelling and bruising typically peak around 48–72 hours. Continue cold compresses and sleep with your head elevated. Avoid bending, lifting, and straining to protect your results.

Days 4–7

You will have a follow-up visit during this time, and sutures are usually removed in 5–6 days. Many patients are comfortable returning to light desk work and social activities as bruising improves. Protect healing skin from the sun with sunglasses and a hat.

Weeks 2–3

Bruising and swelling will continue to fade. Most normal activities can resume, but postpone strenuous exercise for about three weeks or until cleared by the doctor. As tissues settle, you can expect your eyes to look more open and rested. Some patients will also notice improved peripheral vision when excess skin has been removed.

Your Results

Bags and bulges will be reduced, the eyelids will look smoother, and the overall eye area should appear refreshed and natural. Results continue to refine over the following weeks as swelling fully resolves.

Frequently Asked Questions About Blepharoplasty in Little Rock

Question mark

Will there be visible scars?

In most cases, incisions are hidden inside the eyelid or placed along natural creases. Once healed, scars are virtually invisible.

Question mark

How long do results last?

Most patients enjoy their results for many years. Healthy habits, medical-grade skincare, and occasional non-surgical treatments can help maintain a refreshed appearance.

Question mark

Can blepharoplasty be combined with other procedures?

Yes. Many patients pair eyelid surgery with a brow lift or forehead lift and skin resurfacing to address hooding and texture in one plan. Dr. English will discuss safe, staged options during your consultation.
